If your living room or bedroom needs some finishing touch or if you want to change the looks without buying new furniture, curtains and carpets, use some cushions to complete your interior or, if you already have lots of them, simply change the decorative cushion covers and this will make a big difference.
You have chosen your dream sofa but upon moving it into your living room, you’ve found that for some reason your sofa doesn’t seem to go with the rest of your décor.
Maybe the sofa stands out too much. Maybe it doesn’t stand out enough. The number one way to fix this, and tie your whole living room decor together, is with cushions!
The type of fabric you choose for your cushion covers is often dictated by the room’s function, the style and the palette of materials and textures used throughout the room. If you’re looking for something simple, long-lasting and easy to care for, try cotton or polyester cushion covers. For a rich look, try velvet or silk.
Cushions are one of the most sought-after soft furnishings; they offer a finishing touch to the room’s décor scheme — and a great combination can result in a room that’s elegant, stylish and up-to-date, all because of just a few squares of fabric. There aren’t any hard rules on the number of cushions to place on your couch; this often depends on personal preference.
It’s pretty rare for cushion covers to feature no pattern or no print at all. We usually select the covers based on the pattern they feature. There are several options here as well. Printed designs are often simpler and they’re very common. Then there are also the dyed covers or the embroidered types.
One simple print, one busy print, and one solid. This is a basic formula that’ll help you narrow down your options. Another way to think about it is — one small print, one big print, one solid. Your busy/large print should be on your largest pillows or the pillow that is front and center, as this print will usually set the tone for not just your pillow arrangement but the rest of your room. Plaids and stripes work well as small/simple prints.
